You asked about the Tron 2.0 website at http://www.tron20.net – I just tried it out tonight 🙂
The direct connect file that the site wants to send you is a screensaver. You definitely want to get it as if you don't, you won't go far in the game. 🙂 It also pulls info off the server as well, and has screenshots of the Tron video game.
If you haven't done so already, click the blue smiley at the lower right corner of the screen that flashes on and off once in a while and it will hack you into the site. 🙂 You don't even need to register to do this. After that it shows some animation, and allows you to listen to phone calls as well as tap in to PDAs.
One of the messages I listened to gave a code to plug into the screensaver and when I typed the code into the screensaver, it flashed red with each keypress. Once the entire code was entered, I was presented with another code that allowed me to open up the locked file on server one which turned out to be some great wallpaper. 🙂
The screensaver also has chat logs as well as some source code and pics it downloads too, to get you into the game so to speak. I freaked out when I first clicked the blue smiley and hacked the system! 🙂 I did register and got two emails. One was from the company welcoming me aboard, and one was from the hacker called "friend" 🙂 that told me not to tell the company too much info. Also the only thing I got when I registered was access to the company newsletter, so if you want to play privately, don't register and—just download the screensaver, run it, and plug the code from the phone records into it to stop the program from tracking you 🙂 that the company put in. (No real tracking, just part of the story.) This is all I got other than that there may be an A.I. behind it all, as one of the shots the screensaver downloads is a shot of a giant head—pic 10 I think. There is now a 3rd locked file on server 1 after unlocking the 1st locked file, but that is as far as I got in the game.
Hope that starts people looking around on the server and playing the game 🙂 It's not bad from what I found; It's a great game, and it tracks back to the Walt Disney company also. I think it's gonna be used to draw attention to the Tron video game that is in production that pc gamer had screenshots of a while back.
